Well, today was the christopher street day parade, and it was AWESOME. I've never felt such heavy base, or seen so many hilarious things in one day. There were sooooooo many gay people, which was expected, but is a little diff. when you actually see it. I didn't really like the amount of sexual display there were, but most of the floats were just moving parties and almost everyone was appropriatly clothed. I think the Hannahs were damaged mentally by the transexual display(keyword DISPLAY. This IS europe), which I really can't blame them for. Well, A few weeks back evan bought a 100 euro millenium falcon lego set, and tonight he and some other guys play a poker game for it, which will be exciting. I plan on leaving here, buying gelato, and then staying up as late as possible to ward off jetlag. Demi, I miss you too, and every time I write in my journal, it includes a tag about how much I miss you. I bought your souvenir today, and I can't wait for you to see it. It would be REALLY cool if you called my dad's house(the one close to you), and got a ride out with my parents to the airport so I could see you on sunday ( wink wink oh please oh please oh please) at 2:00. Either way, we must do something this week, and I can't wait to see everyone I've been missing. | | Friday, June 24th, 2005 | | 10:32 pm |
Drama, anime, I love it.
Wow, a big drama bomb went off last night involving everyone BUT me. Essentially everyone was really stressed and yelled at each other about dumb things, and some other real drama occured, but mostly just a bunch of pissed off people. As for anime, I'm closing in on a store in berlin about 3.5 miles from my hotel, and I'm hoping I can find a subway rail that goes near it, since the website that mentioned it made it seem awesome. | | Wednesday, June 22nd, 2005 | | 3:57 pm |
Dresden
Well, we've reached Dresden, and I'm getting exausted. I got some good sleep last night, so I feel much better, but earlier last night I blew up at Todd in front of Herr Werner, and staying with the same people for 4 days solid is stressing me out. I got another hug today from Hannah, which was good, but I'm still missing all you guys(especially Demi), and expect a backlog of hugs when I return(Bryson, you are exempt). | | Sunday, June 19th, 2005 | | 2:06 am |
Well, I may be incommunicado for the next week, if so, thanks for all your support and I'll see you all soon! Well, Things with susanna ended very well, until tonight, when I saw her drunk, like everyone else at the giant festival. All the americans were there. Everone there drank, except me, and many people drank so much they A.threw up. and or B.Did things they will regret tommorow. Needless to say, It strengthened my convictions not to drink, so don't worry this next week. | | Tuesday, June 14th, 2005 | | 9:52 pm |
Well, I'm having an amazing time here, the food has continued to be amazing, I actually think I might be a little disapointed when I come back to america. I finally realised through discussion with Todd that it's because they buy all their food from specialty stores like we learned in class. I could bore you with a list of the things I've eaten, but I think the point is made. Paris was amazing, I spent around 30 or 40 euro, but I had some great turkish food and bought a manga magazine for michelle in french. Wow, there is a LOT of pornography and sexual advertising in Frankreich. Every newspaper outlet has a wall of it, and some even have enough space to include a gay/anime/ other specialty section. I spent one day walking around with the stoic christian, my roommate/frenchtogermantoenglish translator who came from another school and was paired with me and John. I spent the other day with Suzi and Thomas, a hilarious couple who's freinds were equally hilarious, and whom created much gaety during our travels through paris. I say couple in the looser form, as Thomas was a gay male and suzi had a boyfreind. Me and John H, my other roomate, spent saturday night with them until about 3 in the morning for me(john spent the night), just chilling, with them drinking small amounts of some fruit alchohol, which was idiotic, since they certainly didn't drink enough to get a buzz, and they admitted that it tasted terrible. John actually asked thomas if he was gay(as thomas is an extreme stereotype), and he was like, `'Yeah, I am and it's really obvious'. The hilarious thing was he'd actually only been gay for a month, but had fit the stereotype for his whole life. I find this noteworthy because he confessed to the possibility that people calling him gay his whole life probably assisted in him becoming so, which fits very well with what I've learned in psychology. I saw Notre Dame with one of their freinds named susanne, and it was the most beautiful holy place I've ever seen. There was singing, and, wow, you must go there. This week was also very interesting. On monday we had a very typical day, with a few chance run-ins with this amazingly cute girl named Beatte being the only highlites(more info on that story upon request), but today has been AMAZING. I forgot to mention that I spent about the whole bus ride up to Paris talking with Susanne, Hannah C's exchange host, who is just amazing. There is no other word to describe how funny and nice and cute she is, except amazing, and so that was a lot of fun, but it was far topped by today(and anyone who's thinking 'what the hell is wrong with our boy, is he forgetting something?', don't worry, more info about why when I return.) Today we did soooo much together. I naturally shifted things so as to put me in her group for our tour and walk through cologne and the chocolate factory, and she kept walking next to me, to the point that she was definately doing it on purpose(which isn't so incredibly unbelievable, but I was still in disbelief for a while). We talked for large amounts of it, as we had in paris on friday, where I discovered she LOVES currywurst(will make sense later), and we even had inside jokes, and little things like poking each other(sorry Demi, you murdered the wrong grubby german girl)or sticking our tongues out at each other, little things. I recieved many opportunities to do nice things for her, like let her go first through openings etc., and she always thanked me. Evan has started acting like a scumbag(Honestly I don't know what's acting and what's real with him anymore, more on that upon request as well) as some bizarre joke/flirtation device, and when he started doing this to susanne(pulling her shoulderbag off her shoulder, at one point tickling her and even attempting to slap her ass near the end), I thought it was going to go terribly for me, but no. She put herself where, I was in between her and evan, twice, at which point it got through even my thick skull that I could do something and have it go really well for me, and I got to play knight in shining armor for about 30 minutes or so. Then we reached the chocolate factory. Outside of the chocolate factory we got back to talking about currywurst (wow, her face gets so cute when she's excited about currywurst, yet she's somehow extremely thin.), and I said I would have to try some, and asked her if she's like to come with if we went this week, and she did. She stood by me a lot during the tour of the chocolate factory, and then we actually ended up having currywurst for lunch that day, which was a bummer, since it meant we wouldn't actually be able to go out and eat some, or so I thought. Then she said that the currywurst in krefeld was much better, and that I should try some there also, which puts me in a wonderful position to go eat it thursday, hopefully with her. We played cards at a cafe with some other germans after that(wow, I like the germans so much better than the other students), and then again during the ride home, when she predictably took the seat across from me, after I carefully selected a seat which allowed for such a thing. Idle crushes are almost better than active ones. The chocolate factory was really cool. We of course got many free chocolate samples, learned how white, milk, and dark chocolate are made, learned how chocolate balls are filled, learned why white chocolate isn't really chocolate at all, and learned about chocolates mayan origins(more on any of that upon request). I bought about 10€ chocolate, one bar of 100%cocoa(extremely dark), one of chily chocolate(deliciously spicy), and I bought half of a hemp chocolate bar with Todd, because I'm never going to have any real marijuana, but I've always wondered what it tastes like. It tastes like fennel seeds, and created some pretty good chocolate, but fennel seed chocolate would be better. Well, Tommorow I go skiing, and the next day I go to dusselldorf, so I have a lot to do. Demi, I miss you amazingly much, I cried the other night thinking about you, and I've only gotten one hug this whole week(It was about two in the morning in Suzi's room when I was like, 'wow, I haven't gotten a single hug this entire week' and John gave me one. That bastard can be pretty nice when he tries), so needless to say we're doing something the moment I return. Everyone else, much love, peace out! | | Monday, June 13th, 2005 | | 7:23 am |
woah, a lot has happened
Well, I can't write everything because I'm about to leave for school, but here's a quick overview of what I've done: I did quite well in a German PE class, I've spent over an hour in a german and italian cafe more than once, I've visited a german bookstore, seen a german beach handball game, eaten Döner and other turkish things, eaten crepes from paris, bought souvenirs for my freinds, missed my freinds(DEMI!), hung out in a turkish shisha house, turned down shisha repeated, turned down alchohol repeatedly, turned down sexual favors a lot lesson often than I wish I had...And the list goes on. I can't wait to see you guys! | | Wednesday, June 8th, 2005 | | 6:42 pm |
Ah, Deutschland.
I wrote this yesterday, and I hadn't spoken in english for over 48 hours, so it's a bit strange. It is the third day of the trip, but i have not written in the journal because i have had little time or will for writing. Much has happened, and i have spoken much german, because Mrs.He has said that I should do that. My english is a bit simple, because of that. On the first day we came into Krefeld around 12:30, and from there we went deirectlz home. Mz room here is amaying. I can ock mz door when I want(which I cannot do in Amerika) and htez gave me a bottle of Juice and Two bottles of mineral water witha much candz that lies on the table. All the german candz is delicious, and so is the food. Frau Ludwifg is a real Hauswife, and teh girls clean up aferwards, so we alwazs have a large brekfasts, suppers(after school, 2 oclock or so) and dinners. Theres alwazs meat, usuallz with salad or potatoes, and sometimes cheese. In the morning the table is filled with cheese, marmalade, butter, bread, salami, and brötchen. One takes that which one had for breakfast to school, and eats it during a break. Therere is no lunch break, only 2 15 minute breaks. I have mz own shower(eine Duche), which is excellent. I had a little trouble saying 'Duchen' the first few times, because I was very worried that I was mistaken about the words meaning, but it was fine. In mz room there is an old PAL(European) SNES, with manz good games, which makes me squee:). Nicole has a twin sister, a brother, and an older sister that visits. She also has a cousin and boyfreind(respectively), in the neighborhood. On the first day we went home where I unpacked, met everyone(Including Felix, who is exteremely sweet and cute, and was sitting in my doorway until just now.), and hat a little bit to eat(Pork chops with salad and Frenchfies) and then I went with Nicoleand her sister and cousin to an italien Cafe. It was very nice, and the coffee was good. We just talked, drank, and smoked(not me naturally). Then we we[nt] to the shopping area, but it was closed(on sundays everything is closed in germany). That night I got online and checked email, and went to bed. Oh, I forgot, I bought a german Anime Magazin in the Airport, whichz is very cool but extremely hard to read. <On tuesdaz we went to classes and were introduced to our own room. After Biologz Herr Posagle took us to another building and said that this room there was ours, and that we could leave anything there, or just hang out there. Then I went with Nicole to her other classes. Spanish and French were naturallz boring, and during her studzhall I slept off the Jetlag. Then we had PE, and it turns out I'm prettz good at the High jump. I jumped on and one fourth meters, and I could have done 1.3, but I onlz got one chance to trz, and I failed. after That we rode the bikes home, and I plazed some SNES until we went to the billiards hall, where we met the other exchange students.
